Brief history

tracking_1024World Report finds it’s origin in the international television production network Small World Media, which was established in 1986 in England with two specific aims:

“to give media support to charities, pressure groups and campaigns”

“to make ground braking television”

Small World The Netherlands joined this network in 1992 and in 2001 AV2 Foundation based in Amsterdam continued it’s mission and changed it’s name into World Report Foundation in 2003.

Founder-director of World Report Foundation Huub Ruijgrok has a Masters degree on development studies and communication sciences at the Agricultural University of Wageningen. For his thesis he worked six months in Senegal together with a local TV crew on a documentary called “participatory approaches to forestry and rural development”. This film was highly appreciated by the World Food organization FAO and distributed world wide. A great spin-off for his further career as filmmaker.

Huub worked for two years for Dutch television on a nature and wildlife series for children: WNF Ranger Report and two travel formats: ‘Anniko’s wilde wereld’ en ‘Dierenmanieren op reis’.

He specialized as an independant producer and director of photography on films that touch complex issues related to sustainable development. Over the last 25 years he has been filming in more then 50 countries world-wide and produced over 100 films for national and international development and nature protection organisations..
